The St.Paul Jazz Age: Gangsters to the Genteel (Low Lifes to High Lifes)
Come with us as we take a step back in time to a unique era in St. Paul's past. We'll discover the gangster era in St. Paul through knowledgeable guides at the Wabasha Street Caves. Following this tour, we'll re-board the coach for a guided tour of hangouts, homes and habitats of gangsters such as John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Ma Barker and her sons and others. St. Paul was a haven for mobsters in the 1920’s and 1930’s! We'll enjoy lunch (on your own) in the West Seventh Street area of St. Paul and select from a number of unique restaurants. After lunch we'll board the bus and be joined by Stan Turner, broadcast journalist and former news anchor at KSTP TV. Mr. Turner will highlight the genteel side of St. Paul. We'll tour the St. Paul Cathedral and view mansions (from the bus) on Summit Avenue and enjoy a tour of a private club. We'll see churches, businesses and hotels that were popular to the “high-lifes". This tour requires alot of walking and many stops on and off the bus. Tour will be held rain or shine so please dress accordingly. Sorry, no refunds. Deadline to register is Sept. 20.
