Tuesday Evening Pottery (for High School students and Adults)

In this 8-week class, students will be encouraged to develop the skills needed to complete a project of their choice.  The basics of wedging clay, centering on the wheel, and forming plates, bowls, and cylindrical shapes such as vases, mugs, and jars will be covered.  Students are encouraged to use the open studio time between classes to allow them to practice their skills.  The use of the potter’s wheel, slab roller, extruder, pottery tools, hand building, and facility rules will be covered in this class.  Creativity and individualism are encouraged.  Please wear comfortable washable clothes and tennis shoes for this class. Past classes have made candy dispensers, flower vases, teapots and flasks, so bring your enthusiasm and creative genius to this class and have some fun with clay!

Carl studied under the tutelage of Reed Bakken at Highland Community College in Freeport, IL.  He has ‘retired’ from the corporate world to pursue his own ceramic studio work and to teach pottery.
